Sorry for pumping the thread but I hope I can find an answer. If it is time
consuming to do the fix please give me any pointers and I think I can do it
myself and return back to the community.
Hi,
To make a long story short. Why does FIAIF perform syntax checks on
DEVICE names while iptables does not? This breaks VLAN device names in the
form eth<X>.<vlanY>, notice the dot (.), which is the default of the
initscripts package in Red Hat when VLANs are enabled. Other formats for
VLAN device naming is not compatible with the network scripts so we have to
use the default form.
Zones with devices in the default form report the Unexpected character
error. I see that your should relax the checks you perform on device names
as iptables itself does not do this kind of check.
Version of FIAIF is 1.21.1 running on CentOS 4.4 with latest updates.
Regards
